Flying Bird Tank logo
Has any one got the artwork for the flying bird tank logo like on Seagull101 's forum Avatar picture
I am wanting to have a play:
This: To this: I made it a tad too thin but you get the idea. I can work with a photo but the cleaner the artwork the better the end result.

I did the artwork for the little 40 decals, that SOS now stock. However it’s on my PC back in the U.K. I’m in Germany until August. Sorry.
Re: Flying Bird Tank logo
Have you done the one like Seagull101'S avatar as well?
I would like that one because of the curved top and bottom on the logo.

Re: Flying Bird Tank logo
Thanks to Keith for a copy of an old Marston Pic I was able to turn this:
http://nestedcube.com/
and came up with this: I used the rectangular pillow option to help things stand out a little more.
Still a bit more work to do cleaning it up before attempting to mould it up to cast.
If this works out OK I may make print 6 and attach them on a plate to save time when it comes to casting.
Maybe this thread should be moved to some other part of the forum?
with a tiny bit of clean up to this:
I then used an online program called image to Lithophane:

Ha Ha!
I've just read through my own thread and no where have I said what I wanted this lot for.
Yes it will be a belt buckle, I'm not sure what I will cast them in yet ( brass / bronze or Aluminium )
Quite a bit more clean up to do on the back. I may take the loop off the back and just put some posts on it, then add a wire to attach the belt after it is cast.... not sure yet.
Brass would look nice with the face polished up, with the lines / words left as cast and black. The only issues with brass / bronze is the weight = higher cost for shipping
Aluminium won't look quite as good (maybe) but it is a lot lighter so shipping costs would be a lot less. Aluminium is also a lot easier to work and its cheaper to start with.
If you had the choice would you go for the brass / bronze or Aluminium?
Anyone else with a pic that would work as a buckle? Things to think about ... bits that stick out that poke in you guts! That is why I put this one on the oval back.
I have made one or two!

Re: Flying Bird Tank logo
The mould costs more the the part.
Got one cast just to have a look. The back it too thick and I got a bit of shrink. I still cleaned it up for a look, still needs some work but it's still not too bad. Not sure, the next one I might just polish up the entire thing?
Put a figure on it, How much would you pay for one?

Re: Flying Bird Tank logo
Well, I don't wear belts anymore, cant find any large enoughlol
But as a collector piece, probably around $30-$40 I'd say. Hope that doesn't offend.

Spiro

Re: Flying Bird Tank logo
As a 1 off it would need to be $40.
I'm planning on making a pattern to be able to mould up 4 or 6 at a time but that will depend on the amount of interest.
I could also change it form Marston seagull to British Seagull if there is more interest in that.
