COILS & FLYWHEELS ....SQUARE BLOCK MODELS.

Post by bigoink »

Is it safe to assume the coils and flywheels are all the same on the later square block engines ...ie. can a flywheel and coil unit be transferred from a featherweight to a silver century or vice versa ? Im assuming that the ignition timing curves are all the same ?

Yes they can. The crankshafts have the key in a different place, and the dimple in the crankcase is positioned to suit, but they're interchangeable.

A perfectionist would point to the fact that one size has a balance weight, the other doesn't (I forget which) but it's a very small weight and I'm sure 99% would ignore that...
