Rhino, its a lot easier than Autocad, as I prefer to do more freehand images rather than technical drawing.
Even though it can get complicated, like my 3D Marston avatar, I took about three weeks to do, still updating that.

After completing this engine and using it a couple of times to try it out, I sold it via ebay, as part of a major culling of my collection. It has now appeared again on that site, from another seller looking a little battered and bruised around the tank. I'm outraged, as I spent hours repairing that tank end

That's a sad come back for this engine. I hope someone from the forum gets it and offer to her the respect she deserves.

Still Lucky, it could have been broken up into shiny pieces and sold off

a fairly sorry end for a VERY VERY nice restoration.
great shame that some of these restoration projects have to be "moved on" to make room for something else.

i have SJM210 in my collection, probably made on the same day as SJM218!
lovely little engine though, even if it did arrive with a lot of "missmatches" on parts, but it is a work in progress.
HOWEVER, just looking at the photos of 218 i cant help noticing that the original drive tube had probably been swapped out for a later one as it has the clutch pivot stud mounting.
210 doesn't have it, its blank! (which i think is correct for a fixed drive engine)
i will put up some photos soon
my thoughts and feelings go out to you my friend

Is the clutch pivot stud mounting the 3/8" BSF tapped hole in the top of the drive shaft tube?
My SJM35 has this tapped hole. I rememeber discussing this on a post some time ago - but I have forgotton what the conclusion was. I believe Charles P and his SJM23 was involved.
At the start of SJM/SJP production in 1955, what other engines were being produced which used this tube with or without this hole?

its taken a lot of tracking down the right bits for it over 2 years.
when i first got it it had a long range tank, much newer cylinder block with "seagull 40" cast into it, bolted head not cheesehead screws, much newer gearbox with slots not holes, 4 blade hydrofan prop and a wipac mag cover?
its getting there slowly, the tank will take a bit to get right. as far as i can tell the only thing not right is the tiller grip and maybe the prop? (a bit anal about period correct)
it runs like a swiss watch! usually second pull and ticks over and pumps right down to almost nothing, really smooth little runner.
quite pleased with it so far. i'm just looking for another perch mate for it. (some of this breeding gets out of hand)
