If your Mariner is 1948 or later it will have a 2 : 1 ratio gear box, prior to this a 3 : 1 box was used, only will the pre 1948 Mariners be able to use the Britannia 2, ensign, & Swordfish props.
The Middy (saildrive model) was fitted with a 2.1 : 1 gear box & used an 8 x 7 prop, without knowing the exact reduction ratio of your Mariner it's not possible to know if the Middy gear ratio is the same & this is the sort of size prop you need but I'd hazard a guess & say that a 9.5 x 8 prop would be way too big & would probably bog the motor down.
Search previous posts for the guy who was building the BMB powered canoe he's a very nice chap & might know the location of a suitable prop, can anyone remember his SOS name? Montystubble?
Charles, you must have more info than me regarding ratios and prop dimensions aye?
Would you please expand ?

Sorry Bruce I'm up to my neck with other things & have the decorators in the house at the moment, so everything is covered by dust sheets & what little I have on BMB's is, I don't know where.

Been off the forum for a bit - but excellent work.
btw here's a video of our Middy in it's canoe. It's taken in the basin at Southampton Docks last summer. I don't know the person who took it but they've got some of the facts incorrect. Anyway it shows it running in our canoe. It's running without the secondary silencer which makes it almost silent.

The canoe was built from scratch and is a very accurate copy of the original. Paddles and Sails also provided.
Don't be fooled by the beautiful blue water. It was full of dead rats and other unmentionable things.

Your canoe seems more in keeping with the era.

We're looking around for an inboard two-stroke engine to go into a 1916 boat hull to re-create a WW1 river launch as used on the Euphrates. Anybody got anything suitable?

Our old Brit with the streamline fuel tank sits in my garage as it did in my Dabs garage before me.
It last ran in August 1960 when I was nine years old;
Not long after I recovered it from my Dads garage in mid 90s I cleaned it up but never ran it.
