Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
If you check out my post and photo above, which has an original set of transfers untouched since applied by Seagull, it is clear that the transfer was placed in the centre and that the birds wing and part of the banner on the stbd. side was partially covered by the clamp. Why the transfer was made so large for this to be the case is a mystery. But any way the correct position was centred with transfer partial covered by the strap.
Once again the photo I posted is upside down seems very random occasionally it is correct but not often.

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
I have not applied any decals as yet.
Just now on my laptop this photo from I do not know.
It fits.
This seems to be between sizes 102 and forties?
Looks really cool aye.
Then again it looks like the one of the clamps (Starboard Side) is offset so maybe washers to move the bracket?
Thus leaving more room for the decal centre?
Possible and tidy?

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
looks better centred, but all the old photos I have seen, also a couple of my 'original' engines, have the decal partly covered so I always assumed the stbd. strap covered the tips of the gold bands.. Just another oddity of BS

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
Just a queery here B, but going by the pics of that 102 does it look as though the tank is slightly on the piss? (not level if you get my drift) nicely centered just not level.
I too have had trouble in the past with the tank mounts not being quite right....
Best of luck when you do finally do the decal.
Measure plenty of reference points on the tank BEFORE you place the decal. Once it's on there it's a bugger to move around.

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
UPDATE!
I am not putting a decal on the tank after all.............I will just leave alone with maroon (Marone).
I did an air gap on the other work in progress so seeing that AC17964 is complete, on a stand and inside next to my dining table laptop.........do one on this as well aye?
Maxed the gap out until only one spark roped over hard and backed off so that continuous sparks.
Impressed. It is the correct everything as far as the mag goes.
0.210"
We are nearly at our next outboard meet Boyd.................first fuel in and start then aye?

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
You gotta love a good ol 102.
Nice healthy spark on that one B.
Should run good and strong all day like that.
(are you not tempted with a sneeky test run while nobody's looking)

"Tempted"
A bit actually Jon but I have some confidence that I have done everything (In some cases twice.....see previous) so that the Old Man will just come alive with fuel and a rope......straight up and no going backwards.
There is always the "First Try" with something like this of course......adrenaline, hopes, fears and doubt.
Just think how it will be magnified when I do this in front of my peers?
Boom or bust.................will be documented for posterity and the internet I know!
It can wait till then.
Adds some spice..............
Add or subtract Cred..........

Hi B
Yes, another outboard meet is coming up soon so you can have it as the star attraction!
I'm sure she will run just fine there.
More info will come soon.
Cheers

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
Just having a look while "brushing up" the lower unit.
Why would someone do adjustment/repair to this?
Over the years were there different lengths and centres for the bits?
Only one that I have with brazing.......I will look further through bits to check of course.
Cheers

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
As far as i can work out there are only 2 lengths of clutch fork on the 102's. The "normal" one for the 2.5:1 gearboxes as you have there, and then there's the "bargepusher" type which is about 2 inches longer. Basically the same pattern, just one is longer than the other.
I have spares. (some brand spankers too, never been fitted)
If you need one, let me know.
All good though. Hope it fires straight up so as to avoid any embarassment. (
fingers crossed B, your a braver man than me)

Re: Australian Delivery AC17964
Brave?
Nah just big B Balls is all....and a hefty dose of confidence in what I have done of course.
Fuel tap will be utility type plastic with adapter to Amal bowl......the rest as the Old Dear will be as it turned out.
I have not even looked at it since finishing (less Decal).
I will check oil in the box as I can not remember if I did that before the starting hi jinks.
What could possibly go wrong?
Just a thort in that I will modify my big blue tub with a fake wooden transom before our meet. Every motor of the day will have a stable clamping base then. Might post a new topic when I do this mod before the planned 16th Jan.
All Good Aye

All ready for show and perhaps success.
Fuel tap is for no leaks on the day.
Fingers crossed but what could possibly go wrong?
