This is an original picture that I bought recently.
I was first published in the Daily Mirror in November 1928.

The piece was called

"Mishaps In Thames Motor-Boat Racing"

Miss J Spicer, the only woman to takepart in the race, from Westminster Bridge to Kew Bridge and back organised by the Suffolk Motor Yacht Club. Miss Spicer drove her boat "Flash III" gallantly, untill she forced to retire with engine trouble.

Not sure on the type of engine, is it a Johnson? Look at the state of her hands. I bet she was able to start it and work on it.

Found another picture of a similar looking hull design of the same era., could have been in the same race (photo being sold by the same person).

Her face when scrunched down in the hull, I mean crumbs, probably able to hit a burgler at 40 paces with a flying vacuum cleaner

I personally think this is a hoax, anyone can see the top picture is a still from "St Trinians outing to Henley" which was one of the very first sponsored films ( this one can be seen to have been sponsored by a well known floor cleaner )

or is it just me who sees school uniforms? ( the bath water perhaps? )

Willing to bet C.I. has at least two of those motors and can tell us EXACTLY what it is!
