Best 2 Stroke Oil for Seagulls - least sludge

I have located, with John's help, a #90 main jet to replace the stock #95. I'm hoping a 5.26% reduction in fuel flow will improve the oil situation some by correcting the mixture a little for the higher altitudes and thinner air. I'm excited to give it a try. Hopefully with this and a change in the oil type we'll get things to more manageable proportions.

I'll cope with the smoke and extra compression from running higher oil ratios along with less rebiulds and be waiting for you at the finish : )

Running the correct fuel/air ratio will increase power and is better for the motor than running an over rich fuel/air ratio. This is a completely separate issue to the fuel/ oil ratio and the lubrication of the motor. So I'll still be at the finish line, just quicker if I cared to use the extra engine r.p.m. that I have gained.,

Hi guys just remember EXON VALDEAS spilled much oil mother earth seamed to take care of that so 200 hobbyists running seagulls maybe 2 hours per year ant gona change any thing so have fun . I run ams oil in my chain saw and my gasser helicopter and my seagull this oil has a very high flash point most of it dos not burn thats good for your antique motor and the air and I promise the fisheyes won't mind . A plastic bag under the bottom of your seagull will keep your car clean its british and just like an M G it will mark its territory thats why we love them !!! VIC

Your experience with amsoil sounds like mine, it does break up in the water almost immediately, and yes I've used quite few plastic bags - as for British things marking their territory my Triumph Tiger 750 seems to be copying my Seagulls by getting a leak from the front pushrod tube.

Between my Seagulls and my Triumph, I now feel I have oil reserves to equal those of many Arab nations, it just keeps appearing out of nowhere

I have the parts on order to cure the Triumph, the Seagulls are . . . . . Seagulls. They don't get used enough to be any real hazard to nature and for next season I intend to make some kind of cover to use on the lower leg, something a little sturdier than a plastic bag for ease of transport.

I had a plunger BSA ages ago................it had a constant loss / replacement oiling system........gearbox, drive side and engine oil tank never had the drain plugs out

I don't have a boot, because I have a pickup truck, and the motor rides in the crew cab, but definitely some kind of box even perhaps one of those plastic tote type boxes might work, something to contain the mess that can be wiped out later. If I did have a boot, I'd have to call it a trunk so all these foreigners out here would know what I mean

Those old constant loss oil systems just blow my mind, can you imagine what the roads would be like in this day and age if that was still the normal lubrication method, there would be so much oil everywhere and on everything you wouldn't need to worry about a bit of oil oozing from your Seagull.

Hi guys know this is a little off topic . I have a 40 plus and ran ames at 10 to 1 just like the book said its synthetic no blend . There was very little smoke and was gue in the barrel . I fly model helicopters and have a gasser that runes on 2 stroke and oil other oils smoke and come out black [Burned ] ames smokes very little and comes out blue and clean [un Burned ] I think it lubricates better that way less pollution in the air and I think the fishes will do just fine . And I think your seagull will be happy to !!! A trash bag under your seagull will take care of the mess but your bearings will thank you with many years of service !!! Just a thought from a guy that has been playing with engines for 50 years not gospel but I think good advice . Your friend from across the pond VIC

Any oil left over from doing the hard yards turns into sludge and mess in the car.

If there is a mess.............too much oil for that particular Old Dear.

This is for normal running full flight NOT firing up in a test tank.

I can say no more...................
