A good epoxy job should fix it for good; if there is no movement it won't fatigue the windings, just make sure you get good penetration with the epoxy

Yep........Epoxy Job in hand.
I care for an aged P which is why I am somewhat slow in getting time to play Jon. I locked Her in the coal cellar with enough fresh water long enough to make further progress.
I chucked the Ship Cat in as well so as something to not understand for Her.
Taking shape. Bottom end is done.
I was correct earlier that the piston is Hepolite. All I did was look in the exhaust port..........Chuffed actually in getting that correct.
For those that would like numbers.........
Conrod is #108820
Piston is Hepolite #8901
Other Piston Numbers are #1908AM, #412 and K9.
Carbon removed from block. I was under the impression from BS hype that nothing ever needed a carbon clean up? The combustion chamber actually had indentation in the carbon matching the piston crown. What was the Old Boy running this on I wonder?
Obviously BS in this case aye!
Block now soaking to see how good the Zinc plate remains.

Hiding Keys is like being locked out at the drop of a hat.............Mum is an Expert in that.
The front doorbell (Electronic and Bluetooth) was a required addition. Makes for an interesting new thing every time for Her.

I am very over painting Black tanks.
If I paint another tank Black I will have a mental Breakdown. Australian and American Colours have spoiled me aye?
I am thinking either of the following:
: Army Green. (1960 Blow Them Away On The Ground UK)
: British Racing Green. (Well only one of them)
: Dark Maroon. (Like British Railway 56 - 60)
With Gold Decal any of the Above.
What thoughts?

Carbon build up in the combustion chamber, especially seagulls, (even though BS said there was no need to de-carbonise) to me, now looking at 40-50 years of use or more is utter nonsense. Fuel quality wasn't that great, oil quality wasn't that great, and what you see now is the after effects. Modern/better fuel and oil combinations reduce the amount of soot and carbon build up. leading to better performance and cleaner emissions. (your average car these days is no different)
Various topics have sprung up in recent times on here about oils and how they've improved over the last 20/30 years.
I think i recall somewhere on here that BS even commented that you could quite safely run a seagull on used engine oil of all things? (probably after it was strained and seived) I can well beleive that, certainly during the war years and several years after that, as there was very little money about.
Even fuels have improved to some extent (perhaps not with ethanol in gasoline) and we all know what that does to your fuel lines and carb fittings over time.
I for one, would like to try and keep my seagulls running for another 50 years, with whatever fuel and oil combination might be around.
I am, and will always be a big beleiver in stripping down old engines to see how they've coped over the years. It tells a lot if you know what to look for.
P.S take a look at the piston crown whilst it's apart. (does it have any pitting on it?) like it's been shot with a 12 gague

most of my 102's are like this as well.
p.p.s any colour you like. its your motor after all? (silver/gold/black always look quite good together)

Pre-assembly of power head nearly done just need to check when block on tomorrow.
Final assembly after everything has its collective act together......................... then should be good to outlast me.
