I wonder why the that advert has the the thumb screw washers missing!
Thanks Jon, that defeats my theory on SD's running on Kero.
Yes Boyd,Yamaha seemed to have cornered the market for kero running outboards.

Alas not a whiff of a Seagull now.
This looks like my first car, Wolseley and I had a dinghy like that.
June '72. Johnson is spending more on advertising.
Because more Japanese motors are arriving
And we started to be a Nanny state, Coincidence?

August '73. A rotary yanmar. How interesting. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of these. First I've heard of it.
Feb '74 a dual electric/petrol outboard. A bit odd.

G'day Hugz,
I don't know if you did a comparison of the 2 Sea Hawk adverts. The first is fitted with a TAS motor and is simply a rebadged TAS. The second has a Victa 125cc motor and is the more typical of the Sea hawk outboards in Aus ie if you can find one with a Sea Hawk decal.
Both use an Cheras leg which was promoted heavily back in the day as an outboard conversion, per the advert below.
In the absence of decals (or remnants thereof), manuals or original receipts, more often than not any outboard similar to those above will be a home conversion rather than a factory built item.
Regards,
S

Just as a side note, does anyone know when the Sachs Mac Wankel rotary outboards were made? I know they are from the same sort of period as those Japanese motors but not exactly sure if it was in fact before or after the Yanmar...
B, you've got a nice original one don't you?
Cheers

Yes Boyd
1st M.A.C. was 1971 and they went away 1974.
The M.A.C. was an air cooled Sachs stationary engine adaptation...........
The Yanmar advertising should say "The first WATER COOLED Rotary Outboard"......
Yes I have a brand new one (M.A.C.) with paperwork as you know aye!
Very astute of you Mate!
You Pipped me to the Post say to speak.

My denim jacket was bright orange but it was about 1970 and we were the last of the fair dinkum flower power peeps. It went all macho after that....
Had a look through this just out of curiosity but alas no Marstons
What sort of motor is this? Looks quick.
Wonder if it had the same motor in 1930.

MISS ELAINE appears to be powered by a twin opposed Johnson, similar to my PR50 which is also a 1930 model.
