In the SAS Book of Survival, the author claims 101 uses for condoms:
from keeping your stuff dry while wading, to use as a floatation device, etc . . .

Now yours truly has use #102 :

• put a squirt of oil in a condom
  put one end of the throttle cable in the condom
  give the condom a couple of turns, so that it is firmly sealed around the cable sleave
  now the fun bit: SQUEEZE the condom
  the oil will slowly flow along the inner cable
  keep squeezing until the oil starts to emerge on the open end
  throttle cable is now fully oiled and ready for use

before I'm off to the Baltic Sea
