Looking for an exhaust flange For a little forty model LS36520. The clamp on mine is snapped and I'm reluctant to weld it in case the gearbox falls off.
Thanks
Paul

I think you will find its a Super 40 Plus, no exhaust flange clamp on a little model forty, not on my one anyway.
I think that's wrong, but what exhaust clamp.

Looks like the waterpump housing.
I know nothing about little 40 engines.
Charles P could be your man, might be worth a PM.

Its just, I didn't think the little model 40's had a clamp.
Someone will put me right

My only 'baby-Seagull' is a 40 minus - the exhaust tube is secured with a single screw into the exhaust port of the block. Dunno if this is true for all ...

Mr SAE 140 I believe you are quite correct in your observation. Both the 40-and 40+ have just a small machine screw holing the exhaust in place to the casting. The drive shaft relies on the friction of the water pump housing to support the gear box. Mine has been this way since 1958 and see no reason to think it should require anything else

The Little Model Forties (FV, VF, FVP - with a few at the beginning called 'F') didn't have a clamp/clench bolt arrangement on the water pump housing.
The Super Forty Plus (LS) and Minus (LM) didn't have one at the start of the short series, but the did at the end. I have examples of both types, and can confirm it's the later ones that have the clench bolt.
Be aware - if you have a clench bolt type - it's not the same water pump housing as the later classic forties. Externally it's very similar, but the diameter of the circular impeller housing is smaller to cater for the smaller impeller.
Apat from a few external differences the FV and LS motors are different beasts, different block, head, gaskets, crankcases, drive shafts, impellers, shaft casings, transom brackets etc etc.
