I forgot to mention by coincidence I also came across a Triton Outboard Motor operating and spare parts manual,
which is what the Swordfish was renamed in the 60's

If someone (Bruce) has a decent picture of the front of the Swordfish I would be very grateful, because the carb is missing and the tiller has
been modified. Even the manual does not show a good view.

Well done! Good finds.

The Villiers is plonked on an aftermarket leg.......could be Eldon. Have a look at the front transom mount plate viewed from above, the other similar make will be cast in. No name then Eldon. The leg is original for that year and lawnmower motor. Adverts said "Mow on Saturday, Boating on Sunday" Yours is "Proper" :) Lucky man indeed!

See other post you did for Swordfish

I thought the Villiers motor was seized but it turns out the drive shaft won't rotate, talk about big teeth in the gear box.

will have to figure out how to release the drive pinion or make up a tool to match drive shaft so I can put pressure on it.

Thanks again for the info Bruce, did you want a copy of my Triton Manual ?

I guess I could see that implementation, but would not the motor run warm after a while, due to no water???

It's an air cooled power head, hence the use on either an outboard leg or a lawnmower. Villiers engines did a lot of that, multiple uses.

Thanks Oyster...I had visions of someone mowing the lawn with a Seagull prop, which did make chuckle.

Due to our world leading innovations of cheese in a can, and lawyers, incidentally, when you purchase a lawn mower in the States it isn't uncommon to read in the instructions "Do not use this mower to trim hedges"

The best I heard was the guy that bought a Winnebago, got on the freeway and engaged autopilot (cruise control) while he made breakfast.
He actually tried to sue...
