Are "Forty" and "Century" brass tanks one and the same for a given year?

No not necessarily, a century covers a lot of models, also forty covers a lot of models, you need to be more specific.

Well, my Forty Plus is a Mark 2 of 1977 vintage. The tank is badly dented / I am looking for a better starting point to fill and paint.
I have seen a few that look suitable (same dimensions with Seagull embossed into the end panels) but cant be sure they will fit, especally where they are described as "Century" tanks. They look like they have they same cylinder head mountings?

I believe (and am happy to be corrected) that the 40s and the centuries had their fuel outlets on the opposite sides. I have a 40plus with a "universal" tank, it has landing pins on both sides of the tank.
Also has the decal at 90 degrees to common

The pins on the left of the tank are further apart, for the century motor. This one is configured for a 40 series.

the century and the 40 series have the carb on the same side, the motors with the amals ie silver centuries and 102's have the carb on the other side, never heard of a universal tank, if there is one I want it.
