Saving Old Seagulls

My wife and I have recently restored and saved an old grp pram dinghy after it had been used as a fishpond for a couple of years, we would now like to be able to use it, along with our 40+, on the local river, thirty odd years ago was the last time that I did this and it seems as though things have changed, back then I didn't need a license or insurance. Can anyone tell me the best insurance company to go with or possibly the cheapest ? Also what sort of price I will be looking at and do I need any sort of test certificate ?
The boat is an 8ft grp pram with a 1973 40+ engine.

You just tell the company what boat you have and what its worth, but its the liability insurance you need most.
MOT is not required, only larger boats with an inboard and secondary backup motor, gas cooker-heating will need a certificate.

Thanks for that Keith, I have just rang Newton Crum and they quoted me £18 for insuring the boat and £4 for the seagull, absolutely brilliant
The canals and river trust however certainly make up for the savings on the insurance by their license fees, luckily though living in Bristol we also have Bristol docks that work out to be around half of the price of the canals and rivers. Can't grumble though really as if we take the boat to Weymouth for instance then we wont have any need for a license

Hi we also live in bristol and have just revived a 40- seagull with which we intend to use with a Porta-bote so some ttime we may see you around the docks.

I'm sure that if we don't see each other that we'll certainly hear each other We have only been to Saltford so far but the docks is on the list for the next day of sunshine, I'm a fair weather boater you see, good to hear that there are other small boaters with taste in Bristol.
