wartime 102 with bronze bracket

Post by warwick »

Perhaps time to say goodbye to an old family friend?

Wartime 102 serial no SDP10866 complete with bronze "skeletal" bracket, with original chain , washers and retaining pin.

Has been in the family for about 48 years and powered our old fishing dinghy during the summer holidays - has lain in dry storage for at least 20 years and miraculously I fired it up last weekend in a barrel.

Runs well and cooling water flows though starts with some difficulty - probably went overboard on making sure that I'd got a true 8:1 mix probably nearer 4:1 !!

Only known damage is the lug / tang (holds engine out of the water) that extends below the swivel collar on drive-shaft is broken /missing. Also bottom pivot pin on bracket looks like a replacement

Photo's show as is and no attempt has been made to clean or polish.

I've little idea of value but imagine that you're all a good bunch and will be fair....

Feel free to contact me for further details on 01309 651389 / 07525 172460 but I'll be out of contact between Wed a.m and Mon 24th

I've not seen a SDP with the mk 1 magneto on, so that's interesting. The engine number indicates a late engine, so perhaps 1945-6. Having the original bracket does make a difference, as they are fairly rare, but unfortunately you have a non-original petrol tank. Difficult to advise on value,it's really down to if somebody is after one.

Sir, I would be interested , depending on price. Please PM me. I live in the USA, but have a friend south of London to whom it could be sent, or picked up by if not too far for him. WB

just have look on a map where Nairn is. Sadly a very very long way from London -- even as the crow flies.
At least one of our members lives fairly close.

I think that http://www.parcel2go.com/ can help you Water bug. At least I can get a quote for a parcel of 20kg 110x40x35 Nairn to USA. Contact them and maybe you can arrange a courier this way. I use them all the time. It's cheaper within Europe but even if an expensive choice, maybe they can offer a solution. Send me a PM in case you need details.

Now about the magneto of this engine. I still haven't realize. Is it an early villiers or an MK1? Some better pictures could help.
I love the 10600/145 turns!!!

Due to costs and difficulties of transport, I have decided to discontinue pursuit of this 102. It is very interesting though. I hope someone gets it. WB.
