T-S-D #3553 PUP

Post by Collector Inspector »

It has lobbed in airmail from the UK.

It is an outstanding bit of really interesting Old Dear from the 1930's.

British engineering somewhat different and very well done. Maybe somewhat ahead of the times compared to BS and others.....(Sort of others if you get my thought)

Pics to follow unpacking and general first impression.

I am still adjusting as to how it presents itself as totally different in most respects?

I have sent one bit of it to my Mate in the Eastern states for some TLC day one. It has a "Bump" from who knows when?

Yes I am kinda keen with this one........................full mech and bling restore ............it presents original that well.

I have made a good investment choice with my Ebay purchase.

It is probably the only one in the Southern Hemisphere...................until told otherwise that is.

This will be a twelve month work in progress.

Continued.................

And from now......a special colour.

Well, here is the unpacking. Stale fuel and all.

More in the box.
20140708_144424.jpg
And outside down-under at last.
20140708_150744.jpg
It initially presents as rather Cool and unmolested. There is no point gap.
20140708_171109.jpg
20140708_153012.jpg
Very gummed up when turning over so kero and oil mix filled for a while. A long time not running or turned over.

Gearbox is cool by the turning backlash.

The motor is original and complete and the "Gadgets" all work 8)

Very pleased so far.

I have started cleaning it up to see what I have.........................

I think and feel in my bones that this may work out very well.

So far very easy to live with.

Excellent 8) I can't believe it was shipped with stale fuel in it. Actually a hazard..

I thought that too. I found one has to sign a disclaimer that there is not any hazardous materials included. Next to impossible to send petrol tanks these days.

Stale fuel.........there was a " disclaimer " on the box.

I know it got through all sorts of checks.........I think that they even have "Sniffers" for petro chemicals?

Perhaps if it was included on a direct flight to America that it would have been checked for a mobile device as well

If it had been flagged on actually delivery..........................I may have had to front up to AU Boarder Protection and pay a fine.

Well, it is here and smelly as it was, looking good.

I have another Old Dear that has just left the UK with definite credentials. It should be here by Wednesday.

International freight is quite expensive these daze aye?

So Quick?

This Bad Boy in a can....................

Then your standard cheap pressure washer set to "Dalek without Mercy setting number 4" with no prisoners etc.

Blasted the thing from a distance all over.

That way one gets to see what one has to work with.

Original colour finishes will be advised later by those that know I am sure.

Having a look at what the the three fasteners of the gearbox entails..............Looks cool as Allen head for them which means, hopefully that this Old Dear has been serviced properly in the past.

Maybe...................we shall see shortly.

Woke up late this morning..........................Stuff going to work so:

It is coming apart very nicely still. Not falling apart but no dramas with eternal care and slowly.............slowly.

I just can not recommend a MAP torch too highly as well as the correct spanners and kit.

24072014035.jpg
24072014036.jpg
24072014037.jpg
24072014042.jpg
All of the tubes and clamps for the adjustable transom height gadget actually came apart?

The tubes are very delicate and thin walled ...............I would consider this success as the 2nd hurdle after the gear box.

Third major hurdle is getting the head away from the bore liner.

That later with some obvious planning.

Cheers
