Harley is 250KG

GSX is 250KG

Only differences are that I was younger for picking the GSX up........never a problem slow and steady. Harley same weight at 55 years old I have roadside assist through RACWA. (Or Kind passer by).

Power to weight ratio Harley would be less as GSX has/had 125 rear wheel HP when I put it away. Yes I was young buck and everything went into it that I could get back then.

I think that this 883 is pushing 56 - 60HP at the crankshaft (RAC) on any good day.

A bit of Weight to lift is just a bit of a Wait in time now aye

just sold my 883 4 years ago. she was a 2002 model xlh
pretty good in a straight line, pooh round corners. Heavy heavy heavy....
and the clutch---- good grief, i used to have forearms like popeye! (unless you've got the "mousetrap" clutch lever, or harley have gone hydraulic all of a sudden)
I still liked it though, even if i had put a lot of time and money into it.
screemin eagle air filter and carb upgrade, ignition coil upgrade, drag bars (didn't much like the originals) chrome gizzmo's just about everywhere on the thing, and probably up around 70 odd horsepower once i finished "playing" price up the 1200 conversion kit, you might be surprised at just how well you can get these to go
the best i've ever seen one of these do is 130mph flat out.(i was on my gixxer at the time)

i doubt you'll get much range out of that tank, i used to get just over 100 miles to a tankfull before switching over to reserve, but once that's gone you end up with a long hard and heavy push to a petrol station (did that a few times as well)

Keep the loud pipes.
trust me, that's what harleys are all about.(and it'll run a lot sweeter too instead of the slightly restrictive mufflers on the stock bikes)
loud pipes saves lives (apparently)

my current ride is an 86 gsxr 750 slabside (much easier and lighter to ride than the hog) and just as fun but way quicker.

now and again i keep looking at a dynaglide. (maybe one day i'll have another)

I have the oil cooler and nicer cam end covers so enthusiastically purchased when EFE came out aye. They worked..... looks and function. You need the EFE oil filter cover on the GSXE for cooler to work.....plus mount bracket etc.

Soon sorted refurb.

So continuing with this madness is that I have to clean out completely, all the stuff of last 40 years, including outboards from the olde garage to turn it into a proper workshop dedicated to motorcycles (Again). All outboards.......maybe 42 odd, to be moved to rear workshop on racks that I am putting together to facilitate......another three racks all materials in hand.

There is the Ducati and my wee QA50 the GSX and stationary engines and now some iron so.......here we go aye. I have all workshop machines in it so makes sense. The OLDE Garage has the serious electrics as well from ages ago.

A bit of a task but those that followed my big move 2011 - 12 will understand.

After all this clean up is only 50 meters to and from...............not a mission like back then.

Hmmmmm time for a skip bin I reckon.

I removed the foot brake assy so to get to the push rod linkage for adjustment via turnbuckle mod as the pedal is far too high and HD has neglected to provide any height adjustment of same on this model.......Why?

I will drop into machine shop for it to be more ......rider friendly.

I have just realized why HD are termed "Iron"................the footpeg bracket alone is nearly 2 Kg.

There is no plastic or similar anywhere on the bike at all.

Moving outboards and other stuff between sheds tomorrow.
