Full respect to your son for starting out on his path to finding a trade. :P
I myself am a 5yr city & guilds qualified decorator and on many occasions when my mates were earning more money than me, thought about quitting. Glad i didnt as 30yrs later my trade is still providing for me and my family. Please pass on my congratulations to him for gaining a start and wish him all the best for his future.

As a father myself to 2 boys (both a bit younger than your lad, mine are 11 and 13) i have nothing but admiration for a fellow father.
Not that i'm religious or anything, but i never had the same sort of relationship with my father.
Your kids are precious, nurture them, guide them, teach them.
I can only hope that my 2 boys bring me the same amount of admiration that you feel for your boy.

PROUD probably doesn't come close, but i hear you.

well done

(sob, as he wipes a tear from his eye)
