Hi all

Browsing Gumtree and came across this, is it a little 40?

Maybe an Aussie member could pick it up...

Yes Indeed Boyd.

Nice 53-54 LS

The throttle is incorrect I think from a another Villiers application along with the too long cable probably at the same time in the Old Dears life. No biggy.

The price is high but if it runs........

Just thinking that Seagulls down under are not cheap anymore...a bit like everywhere actually.

No matter my things and parts are appreciating which is good.

Yes, looks like an early original LS, the throttle lever is right for that motor.

Yep, throttle lever is spot on for an LS. Even has a good looking dover grip too...

Tilt pin (currently looks like a bolt) might be a challenge to replicate.
The rest looks pretty good as well

Go for it Boyd

That looks like a nice project fairly unabused too. One thing though, the little model forty range was launched with the original F followed quickly by the FV. These were little model forties.

The next one to come along was the FVP, super forty plus. Longer shaft and bigger slower running prop. I think it would be wrong to call an LS a little forty, as it is the next model development of the super forty plus (FVP)

Very true though.

The FV/FVP and LS are not 40cc like the first F model, but all have the screw on gearbox and clamp around the top of drive tube, also they have smaller transoms, with the LS being slightly longer in the transom leg, still smaller than the standard later forty models.
I think all three should be part of the little range, even though the LS got modified with a clamp on gearbox later on.

How can a super forty plus be a little forty? Even seagull called the FVP and LS a different model.

Yes I know what you're saying, it is it's own model, but what I meant was it has more in common with the little series that anything else, as it was part of the model forty evolution.

Jon

I would love to go for it, but as its in NSW and I'm in WA, it is quite unlikely I would either drive over and pick it up or get is shipped back.

Spiro is closer than me...

Yes closer, but still 953.5km away from me.

The 953km is not so bad, it's the last 0.5km that's the killer

Well, you're still closer than me. The other 953kms don't really make much difference when I am 3679kms away!

All things considered, it would be way too expensive.

Will have to wait until one pops up a little (much) closer.

Out of curiosity, how much would one command if it were in original condition, but needed a full restoration?
Say, if it was an FV, without manuals and crate and with the tiller not broken...

Any offers?
