Too much stuff.

For two days I have been moving some odds and ends out of the shed, as the shed has had a new roof and everything ended up covered in plaster. It was about time I had some space to actually move around in there and use the lathe once in a while.
I just didn't realise how much junk I did have, I wouldn't mind so much, but I already have a place for my seagull parts elsewhere.

This is only the stuff off the floor and one shelf, Luckily enough It will all go back in, but this time in some semblance of order, I may even be able to find it when I need it.

Its not so much years of collecting, its just, I don't get rid of anything and when I do, I know I should have kept it.

That is so cruel of you showing us that. Is that a brass flywheel or painted? and a bayonet tank and cap looking so forlorn....

All these bits are a problem for me too... and yet I accumulate more!

Spring thing, its been two of the hottest days this year so far, I haven't been able to get close enough to my work bench to do anything, so it was time for a clean up, yes, that's a Brass Villiers flywheel, I converted it to a key-way so it will work on a seagull and it works fine.
That tank cap is far from forlorn, it has a couple of friends.

As a matter of interest what motor did the brass flywheel come from?
Glad the bayonet tank has family and friends

The flywheel was off a small Ransom mower, they are pretty common flywheels Hugz, I know I have another in that pile, but they don't have a key-way slot, like most of the small villers motors of the time.

What positions the non keyway flywheel?
hmmm, I know where a Ransom is lurking. Can I swap with a seagull flywheel in the dark of night?
I'm on a mission now...
Edit: Thinking about it, it doesn't matter what position the flywheel is as it is spinning at 360 degrees to plate. Do we need a key way? Or is it precaution to stop it spinning off the crank?

I am also of the kind that never dumps anything but this overtakes me without possible comparison.
The problem is that when you need a part, may be you have it and you don't know.

Its just a nut holding the timing position and stopping it coming off, but I changed the centre boss to a key-way boss.
I took the centre boss out of an old villiers seagull flywheel, then I fitted the boss onto the brass flywheel, remembering to keep the magnets in the right position as per the seagull flywheel.
When I started finding the odd motor I didn't know I had, it was time to sort things out.

What about the cam on the flywheel? piston and spark need to be in the right place at the right time!!

Come on Nudge, the cam is on the centre boss, so if you are using a seagull one, the timing will be right.
