Tam just zoomed in on your picture, JM 1496, that really is a Marston ignition, about 1937 from an ON or an OP, with the correct points cover!
Sorry I doubted you, but I see "Marston ignition" so often on 1944-45 bits, the expression "Truthful Scotsman" just isn't easy to say!

my dear chap ....obviously a straight and honest Scotsman ..
My ON 1382, proper finned block and everything, is crying out for its proper Marston top ....previous owner bastardised it with a later villiers ignition
what do you want for it ££ or spares
great to hear
i've been absent for a while, but now I'm back

Makes sense to convince a collector to part with some rare parts with the barter of other equally, or in this case, an even rarer part. Very canny of Tam. I've learnt something......

As i don't have any FVP parts with which to trade, carry on Neal.
I'll find an ignition from somewhere eventually. It doesn't matter...
