Something I spotted.
Have a good look at the cylinder head.

Wouldn't want to bet on that Keith, nice find though.

Sealed jacket, but no cooling fins on the head. Early prototype of the SJP/SJM perhaps?

It almost looks like a water cooled cylinder head. Is that something that was ever considered? It always surprises me how much heat is dissipated from the head on the FV/FVP versions. Perhaps BS thought that a water cooled head might have been a good idea. I am not too sure!

All of the Marstons had the head area of the cylinder water cooled, as did all of British Seagull's 102s.

Only the production QUBs had the complication of a water cooled head.

It only appears to have two head bolts. Most strange.

I would say its a tilting tiller, as its not an FV/P crank case.
Maybe a concept motor with a new style barrel, two bolts crank end as per later motors, but the rest, not quite right.

Crimped fuel line and sailor logo post dates it from fv/p.

Where did you find the image?

From what i can see it looks like a fixed tiller with a "flat top" base plate ignition.
Non embossed tank ends, small eared fuel cap and what looks like a plastic fuel line.

Apart from the 2 bolt head minus the fins and flat tank mounts, the rest looks to be of the same period as an FV or similar.

You can see the bolts that hold the cylinder to the crankcase. This is a SJP or SJM type engine with a sealed water jacket. There is no way to tell what sort of tiller is has, it’s not visible.

Right, I don't think it's a fixed tiller and this is why, a fixed tiller on an FV/P is mounted high up on the very top of the upper half of the crank case and this tiller is not up high enough, also the tiller doesn't looks big enough (aspect ratio) to be mounted on a stub, plus no stub web in sight on that crank case, you would see a throttle lever if it was, I would suspect.
Hugo, that is not a sailor man logo, it's the FV/P style flying seagull logo, as John has rightly stated, it has Non embossed tank ends, small eared fuel cap, with a crimped end fuel line, which is common now.
I would say it is just a concept picture, like the little model forty pictures and others that looked close to the finished motor, but that wasn't what they ended up with when it came to being sold.
You all have seen my 3D pictures, they are all done by eye, with not a single measurement taken, I'm not saying I'm an expert, got enough on here already, its just the way it looks to me.

Maybe, maybe not, would you remove the tank logo in favour of a reflection on an advertisement.
