What's the history of that one HA? Is it a new discovery? There are a few variants.

So far we have still not found any pictures or video of a seagull in wartime use. One of these days...

Another type of SD side mounting

I've seen that one Rene, I thought that one had been cut & welded, stick as opposed to gas as the rest appeared to be.

I know of several fabricators that could reproduce them without much difficulty. The hardest part is finding one to copy from.

We've had this discussion before, the reason so few of these brackets survived intact was that they were for specific canvas sided collapsible boats, & wouldn't fit on a conventional modern hull, the picture Jerseyman has posted appears to be for one that has been modified to fit on a different style hull, but still side mount.

I never did discover how they bent the angle iron structure so beautifully, I could help you find a bronze side mount thrust block & engine support lug if your really determined.

Would not take long to make one, but then what do you do with it?

Alan your photo is a type "B" No 1, whereas your illustration is a type "B" No 2.

The No 1 is all sheet metal construction no angle iron.

It’s amazing how many of these mountings/fittings there are around and they all seem unused, I have at least four or five sets, all new so why no brackets..... 10,000 motors only four brackets??
It’s a mystery... newly found Marstons seem to pop up from time to time but for as long as I remember not a single SD mounting bracket, we all seem to accept an SD mounting bracket as being made of bronze which in fact was made after the SD production run..
When you think how many of these motors have survived but never with an original bracket although I do see the odd motor with a mounting lug for a side mount bracket.

I suspect the steel side mount brackets were generally scrapped and engines were sold as army surplus with a bracket deemed more suitable.
