Re: FV Ignition Timing
when I get some spare time, i'll try to do some timing tests.
Not sure when that'll be though as my trusty 'gulls will be shoving me round the broads piking for the next few months

Re: FV Ignition Timing
Stylo,
Do Lambrettas have a timing which varies with engine speed?
If they do, then starting at 17 degrees, what is the actual advance at top engine speed? Would it be near, say, 50 degrees?
Jeremy
As standard, no.... fixed point ignition. There are a few kits and gizmos that will vary ...

Re: FV Ignition Timing
from someone who tinkers with vintage scooters, I have to say that 50 degrees BTDC sounds like a mahoosive amount of advance to me....
i'm not disputing it at all in anyway, but with the lesser quality of modern fuels (and much higher states of tune), most scooter engines get timed to 16-18 degrees ...

Block For Century Wanted
Hello
There's a century on a well know auction site near to me that has a cracked block.
I'd love to see it revived rather than broken up for spares, so before I bid on it I wondered if anyone could help me with a replacement block?
Or are they like hens teeth?
Thanks
Jon

Diameter of carb mounting stub on forty models
Hello All
Bit of a random question, but does anyone know, or could possibly measure the diameter of the carb mounting stub on the cylinder of a forty plus engine?
Would it be the same diamter for a forty featherweight? I'm guessing yes as they share the same villers carb?
I need to do a little ...

Better tank for WSPCL
Hello
Newbie alert, please be gentle.... :)
I have a WSPCL outboard with a steel tank
It's pretty rusty, so i'm looking to replace it with a brass one - Is this possible? If so, what model should I look for? Are they all interchangeable, or am I limited with my options? I notice my tank has two ...

Re: Clutch Operation
simple as that eh?
still, not sure why i'm so surprised when the seagull looks like simplicity itself.
so the gears are just wedged apart by the fork?..... excellent.

Clutch Operation
Hi All
New to Seagull ownership, so please be gentle on my first post.
I have a '72 forty plus and a '69 featherweight, but both are direct drive type models.
Can anyone explain to me how the clutch mechanism works in a clutched seagull? I have an inquisitive mind ;)
I can see the lever on ...
