Re: Shaft length - 40 Plus

I was told (by my Aussie Relatives) that it was spelled POME, but pronounced "Pommie" which originally stood for Prisoner Of Mother England (As most of the first Colonists were) As to The Ashes, Bill...A Looooong time ago, when England were still a 'World Power' a team of Aussies cam...

Re: 10:1 Fuel Mix

A quick 'Google" reveals that there are 128 ounces in a US Gallon, Bill. A tenth of that is 12.8 ounces, (or 13 if you can't be that precise) 8)

Re: 25:1 Fuel Mix?

We had a little thread about this very subject fairly recently, and the general consensus seemed to be "Why take the chance?" It was designed to run on 10-1, so to run it on 25-1 without any modifications seems a bit risky. (to me) 'Outsiders' don't take into account the old school design,...

Re: Fixing the 20 footer

The afore-mentioned Son-In-Law recommended the site, and I'm glad he did. I transferred all my Images over from Photof*ckit, and then cancelled my Account with the greedy sods forever! What I really like about it is that it's easy to use, even for computer numptys like me! 8)

Re: New old project

Depends on the boat, I suppose. Some transoms are subject to a little more vibration and/or movement than others, so I would hate you to find out you've got an engine disposal boat, the hard way!

Re: Fixing the 20 footer

Well, time for an update. I got it finished, then took the Grand-Kids and my Son-in-Law out for a Fishing trip. It was brilliant, BUT, we spent most of the time getting in each others way, reeling fish in, making cuppas, starting engines, and just generally falling over each other. On hearing the st...

Re: sticky stuff

+1 for the Gorilla Glue. I've used it on all sorts of jobs, and it does what it says on the......bottle.

WEAR GLOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Simply because you can't wash it off your hands. Water activates it, so washing your hands makes it set even stronger!)

Re: fuel tap

Once you've got the little screw out of the side, try squirting a little WD-40 down the screw hole. Wait a while, and if it still doesn't budge, just pull harder, as you'll probably need a new cork anyway, if it's sticking that badly.

Re: makrerel fishing

Same problem up my way as well, (North East Coast) where there seem to be a LOT of fisherfolk on the rocks, piers, and out in boats. For nothing! Have to agree with the stupidity of Supermarkets selling tiny Mackerel as well. I've thrown bigger ones back, over the years...

Re: dinghy floor

The first time I saw this in action, an old friend of mine had the same idea for his Inflatable. After 'sea trials' he found it rather unyielding, so had an idea. He took the piece of Marine Ply back out, sawed five times across it, then glued old Inner Tube between the gaps. When he replaced ...

Re: Float Bowl Question

Same as I did with my old Mirror. Stick an old bucket underneath the 'dribbles', and put it back into the tank. Bit of a pain in the bum, but it worked for three years. 8)
