Re: Seagull oil in water problem
I spend summers on a lake with plenty of green pretentious neighbors. They whine if I lose a drop of anything. I hang a plastic pickled herring jar under the carb bowl using a tiny rubber cord. I kryloned it black. When I tilt the Seagull, it hangs loose and vertical as the bowl goes horizontal and ...

Re: Starter cord
I use a screwdriver base as a handle. That's the rubber sleeve that goes over cheap screwdrivers to hold an assortment of bits. The hole in the center is perfect when holding a figure 8 knot. I tried it this summer. Worked well and doesn't bite you if you lose control.

Re: Stumped by Intermittent Sudden Locking
That's a good point about not firing her up. I'd hate to mess up a perfectly good block.
It has good compression and spark; the carb is soaking; it's real mucky.
It sounds decent when I run it with a drill. I did stick a small wooden peg in the carb hole in the block, maybe I was blocking the piston ...

Stumped by Intermittent Sudden Locking
I sure do like fidling with these outboards. Wish I could find a non marine use for one.
I pulled a 1975 F from a marina trash. I believe it turned over at first but when I oiled it up and down and tried turning it with a cord a few days later it would only go about 3/4 revolution and stop dead. It ...

Ignition Swap
Greetings
Can I replace the flywheel and ignition plate of a CPCL 9404 MK 1 with a WSPCL 1173EEF8 MK 2?. Or will there be timing issues. Thanks much for maintaining this forum. It's entertaining, informative and therapeutic.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands. I'm trying to not ignite like a monk. I never seem to get a reliable flow from bottom pull tanks unless I mount them high. I'll try it with a two gallon commercial proper tank. 5 gallons is too heavy for me to lug and lift. I won't buy gas from the lodges. I ...

I drilled a hole in the bottom of a plastic gas can and screwed, then epoxied in a nylon elbow. The elbows are strong but took about a week to cure. Then I hoseclamped a small hose and valve to the elbow. If I can mount this tank somewhere above the outboard, I should be able to simply use a union ...
