That well known auction site.

Hello all.
Just been looking through the boat motors and engine section on the well known auction site.
Now I will be the first person to admit that I don't know anything about engines,but one offering did catch my eye.
An inboard p**ter mini 6 diesel,described as reconditioned by a professional boat yard.
"Bottom end inspected and found OK"
How can you recon an engine without removing the crank,measuring it,clocking it up and if all in limits fitting
new bearings and shells?(In my opinion thin wall steel backed shells should never be refitted).
"Head skimmed"
In an aluminium head with shrunk in steel valve seats,and a well known tendency to crack between pre combustion chamber
and insert,it seems that less material is left to retain the inserts and the pre combustion chamber wall is even thinner?
What about valve head to piston crown clearance,to a layman I would have turned new over size valve inserts shrunk in
to head face + depth of material removed from head.
"Cylinder honed"
Don't understand this,why hone and then re fit original rings?
It is a raw water cooled engine with cast iron cylinder and aluminium head,with no anodes available since the mid 80s
why no inspection of barrel waterways.
"Injector cleaned and tested".
I think that is a service, and fitting a new nozzle and pintle a reconditioning.
Once removed the injector should NEVER be re fitted without a new nozzle shield,has this been replaced?
Anyway asking price £895 un painted,more if painted.
It seems I will never understand about engines.
