Just a suggestion, but what about an aluminium cylinder base gasket? Aluminium sheet is easy to flame anneal to dead soft - just streak with soft soap and heat evenly (or at least keep it moving) from the other side while the streak browns, removing the flame as soon as the streak turns black (best to err a little on the dark brown side).
An aluminium gasket will to some degree act as an anode for the iron block.
A THIN brown paper/Duralac layer between whatever gasket you finally use and your poor corroded crankcase might be advisable.

Re: Compression values
Oyster has posted some pics as to what corrossion is for a FP or similar at the cases which, in his case is severe but surmountable Mate?
Other comments say not a lot of corrosion with aluminium heads with copper gaskets which is correct.
FV and similar have steel head gaskets same as the base. This is where the corrossion came to play for them.........
No corrossion with steel head gasket? Better think again.
Before and after head welding below. This is why I am going copper for base and head on my FVP.
Cheers

Hi Charles, back from the bush just now..................
How much off?
Skimmed back to basically original gasket face and indent depth seperately after.
Zoom in on image and you will see.
Only the weld area was skimmed off with original dimensions to true.
