Spark plug & ht cap

Post by Cpt pug wash »

Hi new to this forum :) lots of interesting stuff on here. Thanks
Back to the question , I've recently purchased a seagull serial sjm 2060b6 , going out on the water with it
For the 1st time with me anyway , so I thought I would do some basic maintenance
( if it's not broke don't fix it springs to mind ) thought I would take the plug out & clean it ,
Broke the original seagull cap & plug
I put a screw on cap on tempory & a li4 u plug new denso
Is this plug suitable before was a ngk a7 ?

Also I was running the fuel mix at 10/1 which it says on the fuel cap it ran fine bloody smoky though .
& responsive on the throttle, now I've gone to 25/1 it isent responsive on throttle , but the smoke has gone ?
Imm using proper outboard 2stroke oil duckhams.

Don't want it to let me down on the 1st outing
Thanks mark

Welcome to the madness
I use a champion D16 plug and you should run yours on 10/1

I think you will find that Denso L14U are the equivalent of Champion D16

The original Seagull plug caps, with the screw terminal on the top, are a PITA at least they are when they get a bit worn and keep coming unscrewed.

Unless you must have the "correct" cap for authenticity use any cap that will fit the plug and that does not have a built in resistor.
