Re: OA Longshaft
Superb job
Two questions, do you ever sleep, and have you rubbed your fingers away?
What are the differences in the gearbox compared to the later wartime engines?

Re: OA Longshaft
OA gearboxes have nothing in common with any of the later gearboxes.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Re: OA Longshaft
Great post! Have you finished restoring? Will you show us the result?

I love the 10600/145 turns!!!
Re: OA Longshaft
I've have almost finish her, Just the last bit of chroming left to be done which i have by friday. But here is some picture's of the fuel tank finish and ready to fit. This is the original tank off her.
Re: OA Longshaft
Nice !
There is nothing more satisfying than restoring a tank to that standard. I know the about of time it takes!

Re: OA Longshaft
Yes your right about that oyster 49. It was hard work to get the tank to look like that
All labour of love i think, oh yes it is

Re: OA Longshaft
I'm currently doing an early SJM tank, just put a replacement end cap. It's taking many hours to get just so..
I must have spent 2 hours just preparing the end cap so it was a good fit before soldering.

Re: OA Longshaft
Wow boys i've got my bits back from the chrome shop, what a difference she is going to look brilliant when i put her back together, which will be very soon, I think she is going to look beautiful but you decide.
Here is some picture's of the chromeing i have had done.
More picture's to follow of her back together and when completed.

You are doing a tremendous job there!
It is good to see another OA having "The Treatment".
What is the engine number?

Re: OA Longshaft
Chrome doesn't photograph well, starting to look very good.
It's a lot later than yours Bruce, from the last 2 or 3 years of production, few long shafts were made/survived.
