Water outlet concern FP1204DD3

Post by Taofan »

I have just managed to start my forty for the first time in nearly 10 years, the points needed a clean and fresh petrol and away she went. I've only tested it the wheelie bin so far and it runs very well, my concern is though that the water only starts flowing from the engine when I increase the revs to between quarter and half way but when it does flow then it's a good stream. Should the water be coming out strong when at tick over as well ?
Any advice welcomed.

They don't pump water at tick over, but are ok for a minute or two at that speed, then blip the throttle to get water flow going again.

Thanks guys that's reassuring to know, yes I've also checked the oil which is fine but will do an oil change soon as it's been in there a long time. My main concern was the chances of overheating at low revs.

There's quite a lot on the coolant flow in the FAQ's.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Earlier today I decided to make the water in the test bin a few inches deeper, about 14 inches below the transom, and found that the water flow was improved a lot, really happy with it now and as soon as the insurance paperwork drops on the mat then we'll be off up the river with it.
