Ooh,didn't it do well...
I hope the new owner is "one of us" so we can all share in the unfolding saga of the T-S-D...

All the ones I seen go before fetched £35 to £68, so this one fetched top money, I wish the new owner well with his lower unit.

"I wish the new owner well with his lower unit"
I will let you know when it gets down under Charles.
There will, of course be, an unwrapping with Greek Beers (Stelios........you have led me astray with them) and my camera later.
Kind of not really concerned what is what with it. I just wanted one. It will not be getting frequent use if at all.
I tend to have success with researched and planned acquisitions. To date anyway.
It will be picked up locally on the 27th by a Mate................Then his help further will get it to me.

Old gearbox oil with sea water (salt) what dried during years create rust on the surface of the gears. This rust won't do anything else apart from damaging the gears. OK it can make the bevel pinion seize but usually when there is some oil in there and the prop turns there is no major problem.

It is still in the UK at the moment. When things dry out I will get it down here.
Gearbox is split like OMC horizontally with screws etc. Quite interesting that.
I have been told that everything is there and it turns over nicely. High compression.
Cheers

Nice project over there! I think I have seen split gearbox on a 25hp Johnson of the 70's.
I think I will start seeking for a twin cylinder project for the next couple of months

The Old Thing is on its way down under.
Just paid for surface shipping.
I know it took a while but your UK winter last just got out of hand so ExPat Mate has just sorted for me.
I look forward to the unpacking beers in a couple of months!
Now..................just to get a SDLxxxx out of the UK and all will be well.
Cheers
