The Great Gas Cap Search

Post by sturgeon »

Hey All,

I am seeking a tank cap in Surrey, B.C. Canada.

Last week we were tripping around, using our 60's vintage silver century heavily to push our eighteen foot double ender around the Gulf Islands.
The tank ran empty. I spun off the cap and it fell to the bottom of the sea. Evidently the retention clip had rattled off. We're going tripping again this week, but don't yet have a cap! Can anyone help!?

I still haven't been able to track down SAE 140 oil in Canada either so I'm using EP 90 though I don't think I ought to be. : (

Ebay should locate a fuel cap. I have a spare plastic 70's one you could borrow if there's a quick way to get it to Canada in time for your trip.

As for the SAE 140 here in the US there is plenty available in Farm/Agricultural stores. I don't know what equipment uses it still on the farm, but I bought a 2 gallon container of it for not much money a few years back, needless to say I still have most of it. I've seen it still stocked on the shelves when I've been in recently looking for other things.

I'm sure Canada must use a lot of the same Farm implements so try your local Agricultural supplier.
