I am trying to make up a couple of throttle cables to go from a Villiers Lever to a Villiers carb.
I am missing the end pieces, especially the small stop/spacer piece at the lever end. Also the stop/adjusters at the carb end needs replacing.
Has anybody got some end pieces - perhaps on an old scrap cable or two?
Thanks,
Jeremy
ps The Villiers lever appears to be an odd design in not having a reduced diameter 'stop' where the cable enters, as per the Amal lever. Or perhaps the original cables all had a larger diameter stepped piece as part of the cable end? I haven't seen anything like that. All I have seen is the extra stop/spacer piece.

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
Jeremy, the top carburettor adjuster I think is part of the cable, I don't know about the other parts, a pictures or two may help.

The stop/spacer at the lever (left hand) end of the cable are the parts I am after. Also the adjuster on the carb (right hand end).

Thanks Rene,
That will fix the carb end. i will enquire from Villiers Parts whether they have the stop/spacer at the other end.

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
I made up a few a while back - but have never seen an extra cap on the left end ( as in your pic )
I just pushed the cable cap end into recessed hole in the lever.
Also - I seem to remember some levers having a small pip ( similar to the carb end ) ?

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
Geoff,
Yes, the later Villiers throttle lever do not need that cable stop. The earlier long lever Villiers throttle do require a stop.
There must be dozens of old -wont be ever used- cables lying around with that stop. Anybody like to pass them on so that the bits can be used?

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
hi jeremy
classic seagulls sell them, they are listed as "old villiers throttle cable nipple"
they have a slot in them to make fitting easier so are not exactly original
£4.95 hope this helps.

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
Dave,
Thanks for the info.
I am really after the original - ie non- slotted version.
Surely there must be old, frayed (and useless except for the piece parts) Villiers throttle cables cluttering up sheds/workshops/garages up and down the land?
