New Little purchase

Post by Keith.P »

One more little one to make the collection complete, well as much as I want it to be anyway.
An FV to add to the FVP's and LS, odds and ends needed sorted out on the motor, now it's pretty much how it's going to be left, as I will give it some use over the summer, with the rest of them.

Now I understand why the Romans built that wall, the population north of it find FV's sexy, I bet Ford Cortinas get sexually harassed up there!

‎Ford Cortina from 1962–1982, Showing your age now Charles.

It's been in the shed so yes it's been molested, in all the right ways though.

Well done Keith,
It's nice to see another FV in the hands of a sympathetic owner.
It looks in nice condition and I am sure that you will have it 100% correct and running well very soon.
The obvious question is what is its serial number? Has it got the original design of engine support lug or the new engine support lug?
Cheers,
Jeremy

Keith,

Thanks for the serial number.
Are you sure about the engine support lug? I am sure that you know the difference, because your FVPs have the original version and the LS the new version.
The change was theoretically carried out at serial number 10000, but of course it is never completely clear cut.
The carb doesn't look as if it has a throttle stop - could you let me know?
The fuel tank bleed screw - is the slot 0.10" wide or 0.12"?
All the best,
Jeremy

Sorry Jeremy, I would have called that a transom mount bracket of something, anyway its the later type.
No throttle stop.
Bleed screw slot is 0.12".

MK1 escorts are the GREATEST. END OF.

MK2 's are pretty cool too though (had quite a few of those when i was younger 8) )
My uncle had a MK2 cortina 1600e in purple with a black vinyl roof. That was pretty cool back then.
