Post by bawar1 »

After removing the split pin washer and drive spring should the prop just slide off? Hope it is not a silly question I am new to Seagulls and have a 40Plus in very nice condition.

Yep, FAQ will give you the clues on the main SOS site. Basically you may need to clean shaft and perhaps squeeze it together a bit.

Many thanks for speedy reply from your answer I assume it should in theory just slide off with a bit of patience. Thanks again

After taking the split pin, washer and spring off, the prop might slide off, but if not it is usually due to a small burr at the bottom of the slot where the spring has fretted on the propshaft. This only needs to be a few thou high to make getting the prop off difficult. A little bit of effort with a fine file should be enough to remove any high spots and allow you to get the prop off. Once the prop is off, give all the shaft in the vicinity of the slot a rub over with some fine emery cloth, and put a smear of grease on the shaft before replacing the prop. Rick
