Does anyone have a lathe who would be prepared to make me a couple of components? They are for a small hinge on the canoe.

Basically I want an aluminium sphere about 18mm diameter and a small truncated aluminium cone that it sits in about 20mm high. Full instructions and photos can be sent.

Thats a hell of a tiller What would that one have originally been installed on?

I'm starting to get interested in these twins. I might look out for one as a future project. Is the magneto a villiers one similar to a Marston one, is it single coil, and how is the spark split to two leads? I'm assuming both cylinders fire at the same time? Excuse my lack of knowledge

The steerable middy was used on the Meteor, a small hydroplane. Find me one and I'll put the engine in it. the small silver 'knob' on the engine is a foot throttle.

The electrics are standard Villiers except that the coil has two outputs instead of the usual one. Villiers have told me they can get them rewound if it needs doing. Would be expensive though.

The engines are beautifully made and are a joy to work on (when they're not seized up - but I've got the answer now).

I don't know how many are still around but I'm slowly getting me hands on them. I'm picking up another tomorrow. Will post photos when I get it.

Sadly won't be this one as the cylinders are rusted through to the liner. Did come with a brand spanking new piston in a box though (dated 1944).

Been quoted £8 each for new rings.

The Meteor looks like it would be fairly easy to make, lots of flat surfaces. Another future project after your 4 man cockle?

H-A is looking at a similar type of small racing boat I believe.

Picked up another engine today - an outboard. the engine on this one turns over and has good compression.

Also been to Classic Motorcycle Show in Stafford and bought a brand NOS coil with twin outputs for £40. Result!

Just sniffing around. I suspect there are lots more out there - just waiting for me to come and get 'em.

After we finish the cockle we were fancying something steam powered.

Incidentally if any mods read this - perhaps this thread should be transferred to the non -seagull section as it's long since ceased to be a wanted thread.

Looks like the original steering shaft was quite short.
