www.forums.iboats.com , free and easy registration, they are the experts.
Did you clean or replace the points? Will it fire, and or run for a few seconds if you remove the plugs and spray in some mix petrol, then replace plugs and pull starter cord? Or if you spray mix in the carb. while trying to start? If so its likely a fuel system issue. Points gap .020, plugs .030, proper wires to proper plugs?
Fuel system, check any inline filters, make certain float is set correctly, and float needle moves freely. If you put in a carb kit use the old float needle if its all metal and not damaged in preference to the rubber tipped one that the kits usually come with. Check to make sure fuel pump is working. If motor hasn't run recently [ie 6 months] you should probably throughly clean carb with carb cleaner and compressed air, especially if you remove float bowl and find any dirt or varnish.
