Hello! ive just bought myself a little boat with a seagull engine. It was serviced in 2008 then stored in a garage until now. I have never had a seagull engine so am unsure what all the levers do! and have also been told by the chap i bought it off that he tried to start it but it wont start. wheres the best place to start? i am good at DIY and with a screw driver but need some guidence! or should i just take it to my local marine place and ask them to get it going?
thanks in advance for any help you can provide! chris

The first step needs to be identifying it- can you find the serial number stamped on the crankcase? After that, check the gearbox oil, set it up in a barrel of water and have a shot at starting it. Try to establish what's missing- fuel, compression or spark, and take it from there.

Nice looking engine and welcome. we are slowly putting together a beginners guide to seagull ownership on the forum which you will see on the main index page. Theres some usefull stuff in there. It's worth a nose around.

Very nice and original motor Mate!
A bit of cleaning up visually (Good for the Soul) and you can be very proud.
You will never wear it out by the way.
