CS102 HO seagull has not been used for 19 years
I am trying to renew this seagull which hasn't been used much. It is unable to get gas from the fuel tank to the bowl. I have cleaned the pipe on the motor and taken off the gas float and inserted a fine drill bit up to place where the shut off pin inserts. It seems to be clear of foreign material but I am unable to get gas to flow from the intake port to the gas bowl. any assistance would be appreciated. I have flooded the area with carburettor fluid. Hi Richard
Can you post a picture of your engines carb, then we will have a better idea.
Thanks

That's a Amal 418 Alan.
Try compressed air throughout the entire fuel system.

I clean my amal twin jet after several failed attempts with pure acetone. One jet was filled with a sticky substance. Only acetone manage to dissolve it a little and finally managed with a needle to take it out. Α syringe with a needle might proved a helpful tool.
I love the 10600/145 turns!!!

400 series Amal carbs, have quite alot of plastic components.Stelios_Rjk wrote:I clean my amal twin jet after several failed attempts with pure acetone. One jet was filled with a sticky substance. Acetone may dissolve the plastic bits, I am also carefull using carb cleaner as I have dissolved diaphrams in Land Rover carbs using that.

Cleaners haven't worked but some one told me I am missing the piece that connects the gas hose to the carburetor Are these fittings available? I am uncertain as to the parts needed

I haven't done much lately in repairing the gas connection to the carburetor but I have made a new cap with 1/2 inch copper pipe fittings. I now need to find a gasket to fit this connection/. Any ideas?? Copper pipe fittings seem to fit very well to the carburetor
