More than a dozen pre-1950 Seagulls...

Post by charlesp »

...will be accompanying myself and Andy to the 'Bygone Days' weekend at Ibsley airfield, South Gorley, near Fordingbridge on August 4th and 5th.

We're planning to have both tear-drop and straight leg Marstons, wartime 102's and very early forties on the stand, all of them runners. Or at least most of them. Those that aren't we'll be 'attending to' during the show. (Andy gets twitchy if he hasn't got a spanner in his hand!)

If it's not raining we'll have printed material from our archives you can look at that we can almost guarantee you won't have seen before, too.

We've just agreed the 'cast list', and I must pop down to the workshop to check that those I have promised as 'running condition' actually are; I expect Andy's doing the same.

There probably won't be anywhere else in Britain that you'll be able to see this lot out in public, and I doubt you'll be able to see two reversing Marstons running side by side anywhere else either...

It's rather a good day out; small but very friendly. Entrance is a measly £2.00, and refreshments are available. There are vintage bikes, tractors, military vehicles, agricultural machinery, stationary engines and their accompanying bits & pieces. There's a display of the aerodrome's past, there's cider available, and we greatly enjoyed it last year. On top of that there are world class radio control aerobatics, a display by a Pitts special (realone, not model) and other vintage aircraft, and the parking is free.

We'd be really pleased to see you all, come and have a chat and a play with what we hope is a good display. Hope you can come along.

Oh, just to be clear, we're not selling anything!
