Went to get some new plugs for my 'flock', (102, C100, 40+), Champion not available and NGK AB-6 have replaced the origonal NGK plugs.
Any comments?

Hi Rob - we can get Champion D16's here reasonably easily, the NGK's are fine, and Bosch either do or did an 18mm plug until quite recently - any 1/2" reach 18mm plug will do, as I think they all have a pretty similar heat range.
Most Seagulls I run into (with their owners) are still using the original -or at least very old - plugs, not that I necessarily approve.
Try contacting old car or stationary engine clubs, and I'm sure John is able to supply you -- Rick

Thanks for the reply Rick, I bought 2 (they had several packets) for A$6.00, which is around 2.96 UK Pounds.

According to
THIS CHART NGK AB-6 are 20.8mm reach.
According to
This List NGK A-6 are the equivalents of Champion D16
Personally I use 8COM in my two Seagulls but I only have one spare left now!

I have used AB6 in both 40 & Century engines.
Does not seem to perform any different from A6.
Have not fitted to 102 engines, as it would detract from original.
Let's face it. if that's all you can get, and they run OK, what's the problem !!
Regards,
Mick.

I was concerned about them being longer reach. Obviously doesn't matter or you'd have whacked a hole in the top of the piston

champion plugs can be found at any repco agent in australia, they have almost a full range of all plugs including vintage cars motorbikes and inboards and outboards.
