Just to add, engine turns over with compression, i just cant get a spark out of it

Unfrotunatley to fund that engine i have to have a bit of a clear out!
I have a Silver Century with clutch drive, unfortunatley i have never had it running :roll: I tried but failed, this has now got to go to help fund ...

Hi Guys,

starting looking at this outboard today but cant get a spark at all!
Points opening and closing but nothing sparking. Do the ignition packs on them have any issues?

The Wayfarer has a Short Shaft 40+ and is slow at best, now gat an Evinrude 2.3hp and a Silver Century 4.5 for it.

Yes, that looks like it!

Serial number is WSC152KK8 if that means anything? Thats how i found out what it is anyway!

Just aquired my third as i am letting my first 2 go to a new home!

As the title suggests i have aquired a Silver Century 4.5 Clutch Drive and wondered if this may be a little to much for my Wayfarer? Is there any known issues ...

Both have compression, one i have never bothered with and the other cut out on me and refused to start up again!

Wondered if any of you know anything about Honda outboards?
Got one at the sailing club i have just got running, but the gear linkage dont seem right??? It seems that when the lever is in reverse, the gearbox is in nuteral, and when pulled forward into the nuteral ...

Had second plug with me, i seemed to be geting no spark from either?

Didnt need the choke after the initial start up, it was running fine!

Noticed water dripping from under the flywheel so figured that it was water causing the problem?

Stuck my forty plus on the back of my Wayfarer last week and went out fishing in Cardigan Bay (from Shell Island) all was well, motor started first pull everytime i decided to move, except when it was time to go back in :evil: :evil: Got back ashore (after rowing in) and the damn thing fired up on ...

Then all seems ok then!

Have been tinkering (as you do) giving the outboard a bit of a check over as i am yet to use it, and have noticed that water does not pump on tickover? It does when you raise the engine speed though? Is this normal with centrifugal propeller or should it pump constant?

Just got myself what i think is a forty plus, but looking at the code at the end it is stamped "MI" which i thought the last digit should be a mumber to help signify the year? Is it possible the "1" was substituted with the letter ...
