Long time no posting!
Have a bit of a dilema, i need a bigger engine!
Unfrotunatley to fund that engine i have to have a bit of a clear out!
I have a Silver Century with clutch drive, unfortunatley i have never had it running :roll: I tried but failed, this has now got to go to help fund ...

Silver Century 4.5 Clutch Drive
Hi Guys,
starting looking at this outboard today but cant get a spark at all!
Points opening and closing but nothing sparking. Do the ignition packs on them have any issues?

The Wayfarer has a Short Shaft 40+ and is slow at best, now gat an Evinrude 2.3hp and a Silver Century 4.5 for it.Williegunn wrote:

So we have established what it is and it seems more than enough for my Wayfarer, are there any issues with this particular engine I should be aware of?

Hey all, long time no posts as i have not used my seagulls in a while!
Just aquired my third as i am letting my first 2 go to a new home!

Had second plug with me, i seemed to be geting no spark from either?
Didnt need the choke after the initial start up, it was running fine!
Noticed water dripping from under the flywheel so figured that it was water causing the problem?

Have been tinkering (as you do) giving the outboard a bit of a check over as i am yet to use it, and have noticed that water does not pump on tickover? It does when you raise the engine speed though? Is this normal with centrifugal propeller or should it pump constant?

New chap to what is looking like an interesting forum!
Just got myself what i think is a forty plus, but looking at the code at the end it is stamped "MI" which i thought the last digit should be a mumber to help signify the year? Is it possible the "1" was substituted with the letter ...
