Hi There...
From time to time as well as getting Seagulls donated to the museum I get strange motors donated, and I was hoping one of the folks on this board can help me identify it? It does not have any manufacturing name plate. There are some holes where it could have been. Any point in the right ...

Re: Carb Question
...the float was allmost spot on so I tuned the needle down two turns and that has helped lean out the mixture some so that the engine is not smoking so bad...I am begining to think that the hole where the needle goes in to it's seat maybe worn.

Re: Carb Question
That's the correct needle and fuel mix combination.
From an old Villiers book:
When the float is help up against the float lever the distance between the float and the underside of the carburettor body should be 7/32"
Have you tried adjusting the needle?
If it is running too rich it will 4 ...

Smoking topic
...is it just me or have folks found the lager capacity seagulls smoke more than the small 40's...I am woundering if the lower compression ratio of 60psi in the larger engine block causes this and the higher compression 130psi of the small blocks makes for more complete combustion thus less smoke?

Re: Do I have the right propeller?
Thanks for the info on the propeller...no I won't be racing the Seagullbillyboy wrote:yes... that is the correct prop. there is also a 5-bladed 11" prop that will suit that model. dont know too much about racing myself but i would imagine a smaller and faster prop and gearbox would be more suitable.

Re: What another water pump question?
As an experiment remove the powerhead & try seeing how much water will pass through the cylinder via the water delivery pipe, with only 2 or 3 foot head of water pressure, using a funnel & a bit of plastic pipe.
Good idea. A stop watch and a calibrated jam jar under the end of the pipe might add ...

Re: What another water pump question?
The water pump impellor is highly unlikly to be the cause of your problem & adding a "washer" underneath it is only going to restrict the flow into the pump chamber, the probable location of this crisis is after the water pump housing.
