my century plus was the same.....ultrasonic cleaned the carb and float chamber and made sure everything was spotless...
remove ht lead and check it has continuity between both ends.
where the ht lead fits into the coil i cleaned the contact with a dremel and refitted everything.
mine fired up first ...

nearly restored my century plus just need to do petrol tank and flywheel etc....i know its best to use the proper seagull pull cord but i have an old pull cord here so was wondering how thick is the original one please so i can compare

probably best to be honest but like others i do have a curiosity feature lol....is 140 the best or can you go heavier etc.....just wondering

seagull gearbox oil

i know i should use 140 oil but i heard they was a grease you could add to sae90 to bring it up to 140 grade....does anyone know the name of this grease and mixing ratio etc.
i have lots of sae 90 at work so this might be a cheap option :D

On my century plus standard plug is the d16 I believe but been recommended to use the d6 or d6a. Your thoughts welcomed

sorry chaps but forgive my terminology as this is my first seagull....anyway tube is now off and so is the square section rod that the impellor sits on.
engine alloy as now been cleaned and waiting for the next section to work on.
i must confess having steve from leeds marine within a mile from me ...
