My old metzeler probably could do with an internal sealant though I have been told the vast majority of leaks are from the O rings on the valves.

That looks like quite a good idea actually, seems to act in the same way as tyre weld on ...

Rubber dinghy repair

Up in the attic we have a very old rubber dinghy, only 7ft long with a fixed transom, I last used it about 15 years ago with my 40 on the back when my girls were very small. We found that we needed to keep the foot pump with us at all times as the stitching on the seems were leaking and in the end ...

Re: Water outlet concern FP1204DD3

Earlier today I decided to make the water in the test bin a few inches deeper, about 14 inches below the transom, and found that the water flow was improved a lot, really happy with it now and as soon as the insurance paperwork drops on the mat then we'll be off up the river with it.

Re: Water outlet concern FP1204DD3

Thanks guys that's reassuring to know, yes I've also checked the oil which is fine but will do an oil change soon as it's been in there a long time. My main concern was the chances of overheating at low revs.

Water outlet concern FP1204DD3

I have just managed to start my forty for the first time in nearly 10 years, the points needed a clean and fresh petrol and away she went. I've only tested it the wheelie bin so far and it runs very well, my concern is though that the water only starts flowing from the engine when I increase the ...

Re: Dinghy licensing on uk rivers

Thanks for that Keith, I have just rang Newton Crum and they quoted me £18 for insuring the boat and £4 for the seagull, absolutely brilliant :o
The canals and river trust however certainly make up for the savings on the insurance by their license fees, luckily though living in Bristol we also have ...

Dinghy licensing on uk rivers

My wife and I have recently restored and saved an old grp pram dinghy after it had been used as a fishpond for a couple of years, we would now like to be able to use it, along with our 40+, on the local river, thirty odd years ago was the last time that I did this and it seems as though things have ...
