Re: Beginning again...

You'll be spoiling your 40 with Aspen, you've got a Seagull that was designed almost 70 years ago to run on 50's fuel, so low compression in today's terms. Drop the float bowl to assess the state of the fuel system, clean with petrol if you feel it necessary. The serial number would tell us exactly ...

Re: 170 conversion long to standard shaft

Yes your right H-A, all the 170's have the thicker walled drive shaft tubes that have a reduced section at the top & bottom to allow the continued use of the model 90 transom bracket & water pump housing, they had to use the bigger diameter tube to stop them bending under the factory claimed 170 lbs...

Re: 170 conversion long to standard shaft

Would it be easier to bolt a plank of wood to your transom, to raise it's height the required amount?

That will take an hour & it's adjustable, if you need to change it.

You Tube Videos that should provoke some conversations

I was sent a couple of links to this by members, one was captioned "what not to do to your Seagull" & the other wasn't as polite.

See what you think, no expletives in your comments please!

You Tube, "How to British Seagull well! Part 1 Seagull outboard."

Re: Mark IV Ohms

Renewing the HT lead (4mm copper core) is only possible on the MK3 white CDI.

Both of them have auto advance, rev. dependant, give a real nice spark & easy starting, they don't cough & splutter, & if they get a minor ailment they're DEAD!

Re: Mark IV Ohms

The name explains the problem Andrew, CDI, capacitor discharge ignition. Both of these cdi ignitions have electronics inside that replace the points & tell the capacitor when to let the spark happen with a built in advance function. It serves no useful purpose measuring the resistance of the capacit...

Re: A Tail Of Marston Woes

Thanks for that Rene!

Shame about the wrong fuel tank, fuel cap & petrol tap.

That serial number has not ever been registered on the Marston Register, so it's still out there somewhere.

Our eyes are now open.

Re: Amal 416 fuel banjo CAD?

It's not really a shape that lends it's self to 3D printing & if it fails you've got petrol running onto hot parts, often we don't look at the motor until it sounds different. I believe there are brass ones about, try John. You've got this problem because even injection moulded plastic ones, don't l...

Re: One for the kids

Sandro your English is a lot better than our Italian.

Andrew don't you think your kids might be a little young for a motorised dingy, in 4 minutes they could be half a mile away!

Mind you there's a lot of benefits to a quiet life, perhaps the oars should be fastened to the hull.

Re: The Great Annual Waikato River Seagull Outboard Regatta

Nice pictures thanks Cam!

It would have helped me a lot if the pictures had names underneath them, I only could've named a couple entrants, & that was by their boats, Mr Murray.

Is it my imagination or is everybody getting older.
