I notice that the gearbox on this motor is different to most of the SD gearboxes I’ve seen. Most seem to have oil nipples on the port side yet this one has the oil nipples on the starboard side which is the same as the OP that Skyetoyman is currently restoring.
Does this denote a very early gearbox? When did they swop sides and why?

That's a worthwhile quest - finding out about gearbox variations on these early 102 motors. Perhaps oil nipple count, position, water pump relief hole size and position.
