Re: vf1065
its hard to measure with the head on but its a stroke of 33mm
and the bore measured through the intake with 2 bits of wire with bent ends is 44mm
not accurate but it gives us an idea until the head comes of.

Re: vf1065
hi
interesting isnt it,
the carb is 7/16 no hole in choke or float bowl
the gear box has got the 2 holes but at some time in its past a piece of wire gauze has been bolted into the top hole and covering the bottom hole, it seems the bottom hole has been DSCF1816.JPG enlarged to account for this ...

Re: new rings
Hi lads,
sorry for the late reply,
Yes you are dead right about the water passages,
its was a surprise how much water was working its way through such a small gap,
Jon, i checked the compression after running for six hours and it is down to 112 psi,
she always had a small leak on the tiller side ...

new rings
Hi just put a new set of rings on my 40 plus
had 70 psi so thought it was about time i did it, she has now got 120 psi.
This is the first engine i bought and is not original its got a British racing green long range tank and a very light green crank case and magneto,
i really did not want to spoil ...

Re: first boat build
Hi, well almost a year on and i am going to build that boat,
decided on the 10 foot Rye bay,
i will be using epoxy and am going for the gurit sp 106 slow,
think i will use the slow hardener simply because its my first build and will give me more time
sp microfibers to fillet it and fill in any ...

Re: Villiers Throttle Cable Ends
hi jeremy
classic seagulls sell them, they are listed as "old villiers throttle cable nipple"
they have a slot in them to make fitting easier so are not exactly original
£4.95 hope this helps.
